Biography
Dr. Umama S. Gorsi is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Internal Medicine (Cardiology) at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and an Attending Cardiologist with UC Health. She specializes in advanced heart failure, cardiogenic shock, mechanical circulatory support (LVAD), heart transplantation, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Passionate about prevention and patient education, Dr. Gorsi launched preventive cardiology initiatives during her training and continues to integrate lifestyle counseling into daily practice.
She completed her residency in internal medicine, followed by a cardiovascular disease fellowship, advanced subspecialty training in heart failure and transplant cardiology, and additional focused training in preventive cardiology. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology.
At the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Gorsi divides her time between patient care, clinical research, and mentoring residents and fellows. Her academic interests include noninvasive detection of transplant rejection, emerging therapies for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and clinical outcomes in heart failure. She is actively involved in multi-center clinical trials, bringing next-generation therapies to patients while teaching the next generation of cardiologists.
